Research funded by the Meningitis Trust

Members of the Research Advisory Panel

The strategic aim of the Meningitis Trust is to work towards the eradication of meningitis as a serious medical condition. Since 1985 the Meningitis Trust has awarded grants totalling over £5 million for funding research into all aspects of the Meningitis. Meningitis Trust research grants have been instrumental in funding research that has led to vital developments in vaccines and treatments for meningitis.

With the availability of effective vaccines to prevent some types of meningitis and septicaemia, and the potential production of a vaccine to prevent meningococcal group B disease within the next five years, the Trust is now focusing its research on the after-effects of these devastating diseases.
