Profile of Lecturer

Dr James Stuart trained as a general practitioner and then as a public health physician, and has worked for several years in South Africa. He has developed and maintained a particular interest in the epidemiology and control of meningococcal disease after trying to manage a large outbreak in Stroud, Gloucestershire during the 1980's. He currently works for the PHLS Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre as regional epidemiologist in SW England.

He is chairman of the Meningitis Trust's research advisory panel.
